Student Activities

Students are able to get involved with different forms of media, including television, radio, print, and film.

Communication students in a class activity

Communication proficiency is the culmination of passion and practice. That is why we have created lots of opportunities for students to get involved in communication-related and skill-building activities. You don't need to be a communication department major or minor to participate—check out the activities available to you in each of these areas:

Film

Put your film skills to the test in the annual Five16 Film Festival. Showcase your carefully crafted films in five categories: comedy, drama, documentary, music video, and animation!

Newspaper

Twice a month, students publish The UNW Examiner, the official student newspaper of Northwestern. Get a chance to be heard by writing an article, editorial, or letter to the editor.

Radio

Tune into The Remnant, Northwestern's completely student-run radio station. Gain practical experience in operating a radio station and develop professional radio skills.

Television

See yourself behind the camera at Eagle 7 News, our student-run news station, where students learn the ins and outs of television production, editing, and more.

Honor Society

Students have the opportunity to join Xi Xi, the University of Northwestern's chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the official communication studies honor society. It strives to help students gain outstanding scholastic achievement and find graduate education options.
